Part Time Green Cleaning Position
Greetings:
Pure Habitat NYC is an eco-friendly cleaning service, which promotes and adheres to principles and methods of cleaning that protect our environment yet produce a fresh and clean habitat for our clients. We are proud of our methods and our results. Pure Habitat NYC also advises our clients on ways to achieve and maintain a green lifestyle by setting up a proper recycling and composting system, reducing water and energy consumption and so on.
Currently we are seeking a part-time associate to take on cleaning jobs now on our schedule which is growing fast. Please realize this work is more than a cleaning job. We not only clean homes and businesses, we educate our clients about the importance of living a green lifestyle. This is done by cultivating close, honest relationships with our clients who trust us and look to us for guidance. Yes, the job involves cleaning but it also requires concern about the environment, an awareness of the harm most commercial cleaning products can do to the environment, and a commitment to practice and promote cleaning principles that are less harmful to the ecology.
Other requirements for this position are:
Fluency in English.
American citizenship or a green card.
General physical fitness to perform the duties listed below.
Availability on weekdays and some Saturdays.
A knowledge of and an ability to commute throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.
Duties:
The associate will be responsible for thoroughly cleaning homes and small office spaces, which will include the following tasks:
- Sweeping or vacuuming and mopping of all floors including baseboards.
- Gathering, separating and disposing of all trash throughout, replacing any liners in waste receptacles.
- Dusting and cleaning of all furniture and fixtures including lamp shades, ceiling fans, window treatments and upholstery.
- Cleaning windows (including sills), glass surfaces, mirrors, sliding glass/French doors.
- Dusting shelves, office machines and equipment.
- Thorough cleaning of bathrooms including toilets, sinks, tubs and showers.
- Thorough cleaning of kitchens including stoves (ovens too!), sinks (above and below), refrigerators and microwave ovens.
- Making of beds and changing of linens.
- General straightening and tidying, leaving the habitat orderly in appearance.
Hours:
Hours per week will range between 15 and 35. Saturday work is available on occasion. You will be required to check in at our office at the beginning of each week to go over your schedule and pick up keys and supplies. In the event of an emergency, you must call the office no later than 7:30 am on a scheduled work day.
Salary
The salary ranges from $12 to $15 to start, depending on experience, plus tips. Periodic evaluations will be made which may lead to raises. The position will be part-time to begin with but hours will be added as our client list grows. We will recognize all major holidays.
Wages will be paid to you by company check distributed from our office at the beginning of each work week. You will be visiting the office to pick up the week’s work schedule and cleaning supplies at that time as well. Payroll taxes will be deducted. There will be a two-week paid probationary period prior to hiring at a rate of $10 per hour.
